Annie May’s Story

A woman in a pink shirt and light jeans sits on a bench by a window, smiling. A black console table with dried flowers and framed art is nearby.

The house that kept calling

For years, Deb rode past the old Formby Road house and felt something stir. Tired and a little forgotten, but quiet charm under the dust. In 2021 she stepped inside for the first time.

Bunk beds from backpacker days, jackets on chairs, a room paused mid-sentence.

She did not see what was missing.

She saw what could be.

With her husband, Craig, she brought the feeling back, slowly and lovingly, so the house could hold people again without fuss.

The name she carries

She is named for Deb’s grandmother, Annie May. The woman who never wore trousers, had her hair set every Tuesday, and kept stockings folded in neat rows.

Elegant in a quiet way.

Tea before you asked.

A look that reminded you to sit up straight. Naming the house after her just made sense. Because like her, the house is full of warmth and grace. It holds you without fuss. It knows beauty is in the little things.

This is a homemade recipe to make you feel looked after. Just like Annie May always did.
